Project Description

In this project, I was tasked with evaluating the current BIPOC (Black Indigenous People of Color) in higher education. The goal of this project was to pull the data from the provided IPEDS, which contained over 300,000 entries. To create a visual that represented the data accurately, I used a combination of excel formulas. The completed visual needed to be concise and readable, while adhering to UCCS design standards.

Analysis

This project required critical thinking to extrapolate the correct information I needed for my rhetorical situation.

The data was evaluated to see which fields would be of importance to me, and I began to insert formulas to determine the correct data points. I used countif and sumif formulas to determine the race, gender, and current enrollment status for each of the entries.

Once the data had been compiled and checked for accuracy, I began to format the visual. The final product needed to adhere to UCCS formatting standards and maintain high levels of readability throughout all of the components. I used visual design principles to determine the color, spacing, and alignment of the visual.
